This orientation manual was originally developed by the Small, Rural, and Northern Health Unit (SRNHU) working group who have learned that their role in small, rural and northern health units is broad in scope, complex in function and sometimes intimidating or overwhelming for a lone epidemiologist.  It was agreed that epidemiologists, new or going to a small, rural, northern health unit, may find support within the SRNHU group and ease into his/her position with the help of a manual tailored for their immediate needs.  This manual has since been made available for all APHEO members.

The manual is not all-inclusive and will require updates from time to time.  Any individual can revise the document and post the new version in the documents section of the Orientation Materials workgroup.  The document should be marked as "Public” with the tag "Orientation Materials” to ensure it appears on the Orientation webpage of the Knowledge Base section of the APHEO website.  Also, briefly summarize the changes that were made in the document description.
